Delft Definition
Delft refers to a tin-glazed pottery made in Holland in the 17th century. Delft was made during the 18th century in England also. The pieces were usually decorated with blue on white or with various colored decorations. The pieces in the 21st century are made of porcelain. But most of the pieces that are sold today were designed after 1891 and the word Holland was embossed on them along with Delft’s factory marks. Delft patterns include caudle cup, charger, caddy, figurine, jars and jardinière.
