Cruets Definition
The word cruet originated from the word crue which means earthen pot. It was introduced during 17th century.  A cruet is also called a caster which is a small flat-bottomed container which has a narrow neck and a lid. They may be made of glass, porcelain, ceramic or stainless steel. They are used to store vinegar, oil and other condiments for use in dining table. Cruets were popularly used during Victorian times. Cruets can be found in nominal form and also in highly decorative forms. Decorations may be made with crystal cut.
