Copper Resinate Definition
Copper Resinate refers to a transparent green glazing pigment that is applied using copper salts of resin acids. This pigment was mainly used in Italian easel painting during the 16th century. It was also used in Northen Paintings that dates back to fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Although the earliest recipe for the preparation of copper resinate is found in the De Mayerne manuscript, there are several recipes with various ingredients such as Venice turpentine, colophony, linseed oil, pine resin, mastic, oil of turpentine and even a yellow lake pigment.
