Mastering Materials: Rare Objects from the IMA’s Asian Collection

November 20, 2015 - June 4, 2017 - This exhibition features groupings of intricate artworks masterfully created from a wide array of materials including: wood, lacquer, ivory, bone, horn, paper, metal and stone. These materials were used to make objects that served a variety of purposes across multiple cultures. These intriguing treasures and curios herald from the IMA’s permanent collection, and many have not been on display for more than 50 years.
