From South Carolina to the World: Jimmy Byrnes and Political History at McKissick Museum

August 18 - December 10, 2016 - This exhibition explores the relationship between this native son and the holders of the office he most desired President of the United States.  In spite of, and perhaps because of, his failure to achieve this goal, Byrnes influenced the campaigns and careers of eleven presidents by working for and sometimes against them.  In this presidential election year come learn about a man who for more than sixty years kept South Carolina in the forefront of American politics at home and around the world.
