It's A Wonderful Life on Sesame Street

Okay, here's a question for all of you movie buffs and Muppet fans out there:

What does the television series Sesame Street have in common with the Oscar-winning movie "It's A Wonderful Life"?

If you answered "frogs and pigs," you're wrong -- and have obviously never seen the 1946 holiday classic directed by Frank Capra.

The correct answer is: "Burt and Ernie are two popular characters that inhabit Sesame Street AND the town of Bedford Falls.

On "Sesame Street," Burt and Ernie are a lovable pair of longtime friends.  One is tall and thin, the other a little shorter and…shall we say…horizontally challenged.

Trivia buffs and old movie fans (like us) know that Muppet master Jim Henson’s Bert and Ernie were based on Bert the cop and Ernie the cab driver.  Their home, Bedford Falls; the picture-postcard hometown featured in "It's A Wonderful Life."

Sidebar:
Memorabilia from the holiday classic It’s A Wonderful Life is very collectible.  One collecting specialty is lobby cards.  Lobby cards are small, card stock movie posters that were displayed in the movie theater lobby.  They showed scenes for the movies they were promoting.

Authentic, mint condition lobby cards from It’s a Wonderful Life are selling for over one thousand dollars.
